2010 Harvest - The End
The 2010 harvest came to a close today as we pressed off our final lone fermenter of ZB Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah. After a long, temperate Summer and warm early Fall, overall grape quality looks good for this vintage with deep color and concentrated flavors. The Pinot Noir vineyards we work with are typically harvested within a few weeks of each other but they were all harvested around the same time this year, which made for some long days and even longer nights in the cellar. As much as we love the organized chaos of harvest, we are very glad to see it finally come to an end. This years lots have been moved to choice French oak barrels for their winter slumber and we look forward to watching them evolve throughout their journey, long after they have been bottled.
